Saturday, October 26, 2013 10AM-2PM
On Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM the Yarmouth Police Department—in collaboration with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration—will participate in a nationwide effort to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from our community.
Unused and out of date medicines are a danger to society and can be the subject of theft and misuse. In addition—flushing medications down the sink or toilet can cause contamination of our water supply.
All citizens are urged to visit Yarmouth Police Headquarters or CVS 453 Station Avenue in South Yarmouth and dispose of their unwanted or expired medications—including medications for pets and other animals—in this proper and innovative manner.
This special effort is intended to bring national focus to the issue of increasing pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse and is similar to the seven previous initiatives conducted in Yarmouth which resulted in over $1,500,000 dollars worth of unwanted prescription drugs removed from our community.
Key Points
• Two Yarmouth Locations: YPD Headquarters in West Yarmouth or CVS 453 Station Avenue South Yarmouth.
• The program is anonymous.
• All prescription and over the counter solid dosage medications, i.e. tablets and capsules will be accepted.
• There is no fee to participate
